The Sempaya Hot Springs are a unique and fascinating natural wonder, offering an unforgettable experience for visitors.

According  to Bamaga folklore, the falls were formed when a local women spotted an unknown man with a spear and a dog in the forest. The men of the village brought the man home and he then married one of the women. But one day he failed to return from hunting.  All that was found his spear, next to what is now known as the ‘male’ hot spring.

When his wife discovered he had disappeared, she rushed to the site. She also disappeared, next to what subsequently became known as the ‘female’ hot spring.
